@FiendishCrypto @s3cp256k1 @saylor The layer 2 is still backed by the security and the scarcity enforced by layer 1. It's why your house needs a foundation even if you're only going to spend time in the living space.
It's also the reason why web developers don't write raw TCP packets. It's layers of abstraction.
@MartyBent This flies in the face of proven negotiation tactics. Do you want to be right, or do you want to win? B/c if you turn every bitcoin conversation into a climate change debate, you will not orange pill a climate alarmist. Read *Never Split the Difference*. ✌
@FiendishCrypto @s3cp256k1 @saylor Capital "B"itcoin is the network. @Saylor wasn't speaking for every company or wallet software.
Everyone knows that LN has tradeoffs and must improve. But making a tradeoff !== negating.
If Bitcoin succeeds, loooong term, nobody will use the L1. We're so early! Be optimistic!
@SugondeseNow@Joe46791334@Cons_be24@dylanleclair Decentralization has different meaning for different people, so you're going to have to describe what exactly you mean. It has 15 thousand nodes, an open spec, and 3 different software implementations from which to choose. https://t.co/25Wz79qtxj
@HEX208@coryswan "thin air" #Bitcoin is "printed" with 10 gigawatts of electricity channeled through specialized equipment to create an impossibly difficult cryptographic padlock protecting the underlying transactions.
That you don't understand this is why you embrace the shittiest of shitcoins.
@nic_carter And Government exerts unlimited control over corporations. The more government influences business, the more business will influence government.
@bitcoin__help@Blockstream Thinking that loooong term, most people will never individually interact with layer 1, just like I don't use FedWire when I buy a loaf of bread.
So, cold storage at layer 2 would/could be a thing. Just a thought. Thanks!
@bitcoin__help@Blockstream Thanks Rich! Re: lightning on jade - probably early, but the use case is to cold store larger amts via hardware wallet and move 'walking around sats' to a hot wallet on an as needed basis. Theoretically possible? Or am I being dumb?
