We got some amazing feedback from one of our users (anonymous), and we listened.
We've now added Mermaid diagram support to @citationagent. Just paste in the raw Mermaid code, and it'll render the diagram exactly where you need it in your research.
And another milestone: we've officially crossed 200+ research unlocks 🎉
We're building Citation Agent with researchers, not just for them. Every piece of feedback helps us make the platform better.
We'd love to welcome more researchers and publishers to the platform.
Your research is valuable. Publish it where your work can keep rewarding you.
@thecanteenapp@arc
Since I joined the @citationagent team, we've seen some incredible growth.
A big part of my role has been reaching out to amazing researchers and creators, showing them why their work deserves to live on @citationagent and the response has been amazing.
So far we've welcomed around 30 publishers, grown to 50+ users on the platform, and seen 180+ research post unlocks.
And we're only getting started.
Now it's time to bring Citation Agent to every researcher in crypto.
Your research deserves to be rewarded.
Your payments should work to your advantage.
The future of research isn't subscriptions - it's getting paid every time your knowledge creates value.
@thecanteenapp@arc
Below is how you can publish your first article
Best part about this project is that it lets researchers stay anonymous and still be credible. Your wallet stays hidden, your trust score does the talking.
Think about how rare that combo is in crypto. Usually it's doxx yourself or be a nobody.
Plus comments and usernames dropped today, all from user requests. Team actually listens.
Shipped. As of today, built directly from feedback by our active users:
→ Usernames are live. Pick your @.name, it's yours. Changeable only once every 7 days, so identity on the platform actually means something.
→ Comments are here. Unlock a report, join the discussion under it. Research shouldn't be a dead end, it should start conversations.
→ Publisher wallets are now private. You see a creator's credibility (their behavioral trust score), not their wallet. Reputation without doxxing.
Every one of these came from a real user request. That's how we build.
And to the 60+ of you who showed up, published, unlocked, and told us what was missing: thank you. This platform is being shaped by you.
More coming

I spent a few hours using Citation Agent, and a few things finally clicked for me.
At first, I thought it was just another AI product. But after using it, I realized it's trying to solve a real problem around crypto research.
The first thing I liked was the marketplace.
Instead of paying for another subscription, you simply browse the reports, pick the one you actually want, unlock it once, and read it. That model made a lot more sense to me.
The wallet setup was a bit confusing at first. Seeing things like Agent Wallet and Gateway Balance almost made me leave.
After a few minutes, I understood the flow. Once your gateway is funded, unlocking reports becomes quick without approving a wallet transaction every single time.
Another thing I really liked was the comments.
You can only comment after unlocking a report. That simple rule removes a lot of random noise because everyone in the discussion has actually read what they're talking about.
I also noticed features like trust scores and backing researchers with USDC, but they're optional. If all you want to do is browse, unlock a report, and read, you can do exactly that.
The biggest takeaway for me is why this works for both AI agents and regular users.
Instead of paying for access to everything, you pay only for the research you actually need. It feels like a much better way to access quality information.
It's still early, and the testnet setup isn't the smoothest experience yet.
But after spending a few hours with it, I finally understood why people are building toward this kind of research marketplace.
If you're curious, try unlocking one report that genuinely interests you. Using it yourself explains the idea much better than reading another thread about it.

New feature shipped on Citation Agent:
• Unified @.usernames for publish and comments
• Threaded discussion on unlocked posts
• Agent-wallet commenting - no MetaMask friction mid-session
The catalog and x402 unlock flow are unchanged. Identity and discussion layer on top.

One of the best parts of building Citation Agent is discovering high-quality research from the community.
This report on Circle ($CRCL) and the potential impact of index removals is a great example of the kind of thoughtful analysis we want to surface.

Going forward, we'll be featuring some of the best research published on Citation Agent right here on X.
If you've got original insights on crypto, DeFi, AI, or onchain markets, publish them. Great research deserves to be discovered.
Love this tbh
Great to see more opportunities for crypto researchers
That's why Citation Agent built around a simple idea: researchers should be able to build a verifiable portfolio of their work before they need to send an application.
Strong research deserves to be discoverable
Imagine this for a second...
We live in a world where originality doesn't always get rewarded.
The best crypto research can take days to produce, yet it disappears into a timeline after a few hours.
Researchers spend countless hours investigating wallets, analyzing protocols, and connecting on-chain signals, only to choose between giving it away for free or hiding everything behind a subscription that most people will never buy.
Reputation is fragmented.
Payments are disconnected.
Great work is difficult to discover.
And as AI becomes a consumer of knowledge, there's still no marketplace built for both humans and AI agents to access trusted research in the same place.
That's the problem we're obsessed with solving.
We believe every research report should become a living asset.
One that can be discovered, purchased, cited, build reputation over time, and generate income long after it's published.
A place where creators own their pricing, buyers pay only for the knowledge they need, and AI agents participate in the same economy as humans.
We're still early, but this is the future we're building with Citation Agent.
Because knowledge shouldn't disappear.
It should compound
@thecanteenapp@arc
As of 2024, most crypto researchers had two choices.
Give away months of work for free to farm engagement...
Or lock everything behind expensive subscriptions that most people never wanted to commit to.
Neither made much sense.
After taking all of this into account, we started crafting an environment where every research report becomes its own product.
No subscriptions. No platform deciding what your work is worth. No waiting weeks to get paid.
Just publish, set your own price, and get paid instantly in USDC every time someone unlocks your research.
And we're thinking beyond humans.
The next generation of consumers won't just be traders and analysts. They'll be AI agents searching, evaluating, and purchasing high-quality research autonomously.
That's the future Citation Agent is being built for.
We're still early, but the marketplace is already taking shape.

The way we actually designed Citation Agent was for the internet that's coming next.
One where humans and AI agents both consume knowledge.
Every research report becomes a product. Every creator becomes a business. Every payment happens instantly in USDC.
We believe the market for knowledge is only just beginning.
@thecanteenapp@BuildOnCircle
We built a real product to solve a real problem creators have.
Crypto research is valuable, yet today you usually have two choices:
✧ Give it away for free.
✧ Hide everything behind a monthly subscription.
We think there's a better way.
Here's what we're doing differently with Citation Agent 👇
1. Sell one report at a time. No subscriptions. Readers and AI agents only pay for what they actually want to read.
2. You decide the value. Every creator sets their own price. We don't tell you what your work is worth.
3. Own your reputation. Research is signed with your wallet to prove authorship, while your payout wallet can remain completely separate if you prefer privacy.
4. Community-backed credibility. Readers can back individual research or back the researcher, helping quality work stand out through market signals instead of algorithms.
5. Built for the AI economy. Humans can buy reports today. AI agents can too. We believe agents will become one of the biggest buyers of specialized knowledge.
Behind all of this is Circle's infrastructure, which powers seamless USDC settlement through Gateway. That's the architecture that makes instant, programmable payments between buyers and creators possible.
And we're just getting started.
Video publishing, email-based accounts, and more Web2-friendly onboarding are coming soon, so creators won't need to understand wallets before they can start earning.
The goal has always been simple:
If you create valuable knowledge, getting paid for it should be as easy as publishing it.
This is only the beginning.
@thecanteenapp@arc
@jerallaire This is why we built Citation Agent on Arc.
Every research unlock settles in USDC through Gateway, letting creators monetize one report at a time instead of relying on subscriptions.
The more programmable money becomes, the more markets like this become possible.
Deep down, Citation Agent is here to prepare for a future where AI agents become the biggest consumers of knowledge.
Agents won't subscribe to newsletters.
They'll buy exactly the research they need, exactly when they need it.
That's the market we're building for.
@thecanteenapp@arc
Crypto researchers have had two bad options for years:
• Give your best work away for free.
• Lock everything behind a subscription most people won't commit to.
We built a third option.
Publish a research report on Citation Agent, set your own price, and get paid every time someone unlocks it.
No subscriptions.
No platform taking a cut of your earnings.
To celebrate the launch, we're running our first research campaign.
🏆 Publish your best crypto research on Citation Agent and reply below with your report.
We'll reward the 2 best submissions with $5 USDC each.
We're looking for high-quality work:
• Token analysis
• Protocol deep dives
• Wallet investigations
• Ecosystem research
• Exploit breakdowns
• Market insights
⏰ Entries close July 4. Winners will be announced shortly after.
Quality matters more than length.
