I recently wrote to the @NHMRC and to the Health minister @GregHuntMP about what I felt was a breach of the disability Act during my application for an Investigator Grant. This is how it played out.
A thread. 1/13

@Roscommon_Cat Best wishes and all strength to you. It’s not anyone’s fault but a lot of parents in the situation feel the same way. When you’re ready/if you want to, highly recommend the @too_peas podcast - they even have an episode on parental guilt https://t.co/wBXWqGbhfd
@normanswan Thanks for the brighter Vic outlook today👍 (let’s hope the numbers are right eh? 🤞)
If you are scrabbling around for more positive stuff to say about Melbourne, there’s a heap of interesting preclinical (long term) research coming from various strong Melbourne Research groups
@normanswan *should come with a mental health warning for Melburnians: This week has been “don’t even dream your numbers are really coming down, it’s all false and your health system is screwed and your government won’t release the right numbers.” Send tissues 😢
@BaethanEnergy @normanswan Not saying either is the case but trends towards these scenarios could explain both low testing numbers and increased positive %. And what if testing is now focussed on high risk settings and clusters? (Which is good and bad)
@BaethanEnergy @normanswan Are the protections for these exposed populations working equivalently on covid and all the non-covid causes of symptoms? Again, pushing to the unlikely extreme of the spectrum, what if covid was now the only virus getting through these protections so the only cause of symptoms
@Chrisquirk I’ve seen people’s screenshots of parcels being routed from one Melbourne suburb to another via Sydney. They took our teams, they want our horse races, now they want to sort our mail!
