「八九中国民运」三十七周年纪念研讨会暨新书发布会将在纽约隆重举行。二零二六年六月二日，在"八九中国民运"三十七周年纪念日到来之际，外高联同学研究会（NAFUS）与中国人权（HRIC）和纽约大学美亚法律研究所（USALI）共同联合，于纽约大学隆重举办学术研讨会暨《「外高联」与八九中国民运》新书发布会。

PRC foreign interference is Canada’s greatest security threat - CSIS assessed this, and the PM himself said so a year ago.

CSIS has advised the Liberal government that the way to counter foreign interference is a policy “grounded in transparency and sunlight” so this interference is “exposed to the public”.

Instead, the Liberal government appears to be acquiescing to the demands of an authoritarian state that Canada only talk about foreign interference behind closed doors.

Is that why the Minister only goes as far as stating, “We also agreed [to] … re-open a dialogue on national security concerns”?

Is that why there’s no press conference for this visit, and why journalists were not permitted to ask questions?

L’ingérence étrangère de la RPC constitue la plus grande menace à la sécurité du Canada — c’est l’évaluation du SCRS, et le premier ministre lui-même l’a affirmé il y a un an.

Le SCRS a conseillé au gouvernement libéral que la meilleure façon de contrer l’ingérence étrangère est d’adopter une politique « fondée sur la transparence et la lumière du jour », afin que cette ingérence soit « exposée au public ».

Or, le gouvernement libéral semble plutôt céder aux exigences d’un État autoritaire qui souhaite que le Canada ne discute de l’ingérence étrangère qu’à huis clos.

Est-ce pour cette raison que le ministre se contente de déclarer : « Nous avons également convenu de rouvrir un dialogue sur les préoccupations liées à la sécurité nationale »?

Est-ce aussi pour cette raison qu’aucune conférence de presse n’a été tenue lors de cette visite et que les journalistes n’ont pas été autorisés à poser des questions?

No questions were allowed, only photo ops. That alone tells you a lot about the environment. China is not Canada’s friend, nor is it a strategic partner. It is a country whose government fears even basic scrutiny from the press.
