In 2020, Paris launched “school streets” outside 211 schools, closing streets to traffic during pick-up & drop-off.

At least 22 have since become permanent pedestrian streets, creating dynamic new community spaces 7 days a week.

Public markets have existed in Boston since the 1600s with the Haymarket Pushcart Association tracing its roots back to 1820.

Today, over 50 vendors sell low priced produce and fish every Friday and Saturday on Hanover, Blackstone and North Streets. 🐟 🍎

More than 80% of new global capacity additions in 2021 were from solar (50%) wind (25%) & hydro (7%) compared to only 15% fossil generation provided by gas (11%) & coal (4%).

@ferialhaffajee Every property owner could install a solar light or two that casts over the street? An idea from my work in Khayelitsha 20 years ago. Tragic that instead of improving marginalised places greed, corruption and mismanagement is destroying once functioning parts of cities
