An NBA journeyman who only made $18 million is about to be a billionaire.

Omri Casspi already made history when he entered the NBA in 2009.

He was the first Israeli player to play in the league, played 10 seasons in the NBA for 7 teams, and won a ring as an in-season member of the Warriors in 2018.

But the biggest win of his career came when he retired and founded Swish Ventures.

A venture capital firm that started in early 2025 focused on early-stage startups in cybersecurity and AI.

Casspi usually invests $20 million per company which is a relatively bigger amount than the average, especially for startup companies.

But to him, it's part of the risk of running a business (via Calcalist):

“I know $20 million is a large check for the early stages of a company’s life, but I want to find the best opportunities that exist, and in the companies I invest in, I usually put in more money than average. This is a small group of exceptional entrepreneurs.”

It's only been less than 2 years, but some of his investments have reaped big rewards.

➡️ Invested in Cognition when it was valued at $150 million (now valued at $26 billion)
➡️ Invested in Upwind Security when it was valued at $65 million (now valued at $3 billion)

Swish currently has around 20 companies in its portfolio, with eight reportedly reaching unicorn status, per Globes.

Today, Casspi's assets under management are at $800 million
