We can, of course, debate whether or not other parties should be placed in that bracket, but in terms of how most voters tend to see the parties, it’s certainly not a hearty embrace of right-wing politics.

Whilst seeing Reform as the largest party may feel bleak, there is perhaps some hope in noting the combined “right” tally is actually down from 2021.

The Tories had 47 then.

Tory + Ref now is only 35.

LD+IND would fall 2 seats short of an overall majority.

REF+IND would get exactly the required 44, but would expect at least a few INDs not to join.

No easy or obvious route to an administration now, I'd say.

Also worth considering the possibility of a REF+IND coalition, but I can think of at least a few INDs who would be very averse to such an idea, and the numbers are so tight, they couldn't really afford to lose any.

LDs currently ahead as largest party, with REF close behind.

Tories have completely collapsed and look unlikely to reach double figures.

Greens are the only one of the smaller parties to have had much success, adding 2 Cllrs to their 1 from 2021.

LAB and MK both down.

LD-IND currently on a combined 38 seats of 44 needed to take control of the council.

19 more seats to be announced.

After 51 seats announced, only LIBDEM, IND or REF could now reach an overall majority, but it's looking unlikely any of them will.

LIBDEM-IND coalition feels like the most likely outcome, but there could be some interesting discussions over the coming weeks.
