Indonesia’s free meal scheme is under renewed scrutiny after the recently dismissed head of the programme was arrested on corruption charges. The initiative aims to provide a free daily meal to schoolchildren and pregnant women.
Al Jazeera’s @JesWashington reports.
24/25 so iconic.

The attacking trio all 10 years apart from each other.
Tek performances. The offside trap. Kounde heroing the final.
There’s one thing about Argentina players that I admire a lot, Brazil players do it too, when they’re done with Europe, they usually go back to play in their countries, they sign for teams in their countries. That connection to home football culture is powerful.
You see players spend 10–15 years in Europe, win trophies, make money, build global reputations, but deep down they still see clubs back home as part of their identity. It’s not just nostalgia, it’s pride.
Thiago Silva returned to Fluminense, Coutinho returned to Vasco da Gama, Lucas Moura returned São Paulo, Neymar returned to Santos in 2025 even the likes of Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Riquelme, Tevez, Angel Di María and more. They don’t joke with their boyhood Club.
In Argentina, going back to clubs like Boca Juniors, River Plate or Newell’s Old Boys means something emotionally. Same with Brazilian players returning to the likes of Santos, Flamengo or São Paulo etc
The fans too make it easy, they don’t see them as retired stars coming home. They see them as sons of the club returning to give back.
I think that’s why South American football culture still feels raw and emotional. The connection between player, club and community don’t breaks. Even the biggest stars still carry that badge in their hearts.
A lot of other countries don’t really have that culture anymore. Some players completely disconnect from their local league once they leave. But in Argentina and Brazil, the domestic league still has emotional value. That’s part of why their football identity remains so strong generation after generation.
