Hey @Austin_Police you guys mind storing the pedestrian barriers for 6th street somewhere that's *not* in the middle of the bike lane?
This is on San Jacinto, just North of 6th. Been this way for months. Please correct it.
The year is 2006. You wake up on the couch - the TV's still playing.
It's on ABC Family. There's a commercial for a new show, "Kyle XY".
The plot?

Incredible article highlighting car-free and car-light Austinites!!!🚌🚲🚄
Traveling without a car is practical in many parts of the city - we should make it an option for more Austinites!
So grateful to Chelsey for writing this and all the folks who shared their story. 🙂
Can you live without a car in Austin? I do — but it takes some dedication. I wanted to hear from other carless or car-light Austinites about their experiences, so I talked to … 🧵

@psomdecerff@constans 100%. Meeting both goals requires "maximum coverage" to be within close proximity to the "decent lines."
Primary solution being to increase the supply of housing (esp. entry level/affordable housing) along the successful transit corridors.
Ever wondered why you don't see buildings like this in Austin? One reason is our building code doesn't allow "single-stair" buildings, forcing builders into massive, inefficient designs. Staff is currently working to change this, but we need 5 big amendments to make it work 🏤 1/
The staff draft of the single-stair apartment ordinance directed by #atxcouncil is a poison pill designed to prevent it from ever getting built, and is justified by lazy, absurd logic. A failure of duty at best, bordering on insubordination. An embarrassing day for City staff.
@kelseyhuse30 My first instinct is that - in an ideal world - there would be a loading zone nearby for a truck to use, and the truck would be fined if they delivered like this instead of using the loading zone.
my timeline:
65 yr old former professor: “yeah that’s right Mr Drumpf — NOBODY is above the law”
gif enthusiasts: “ladies and gentlemen … we got him.gif”
always confused guy: “does anyone know if this actually changes anything?”
YIMBY guy: “we need to build more housing”
@AmericanAir your chat support has a 2 hour wait and your customer support phone line literally just hangs up on me.
I just want to know why Flight AA 798 was delayed so I know what I am entitled to.
@DavidZipper@ProfRachelM And generally, online options - delivery, remote work, and even to some extent tele-health - reduce the need for these to be nearby.
@DavidZipper@ProfRachelM Article gives three services that are hard to locate within 15 min:
1. Hospitals - true. But most don't have regular appts.
2. Supermarkets - Target has downsized stores for urban markets. Works fine.
3. Employers - remote mitigates this, and increased density = more workplaces.
Amazing activation of Plaza Saltillo for the Asian Night Market by @AsianChamberATX and the Lunar Foundation.
We need *more* transit hubs with vendors, food, and fun 🙂
