🚨Riyad Mahrez on the controversial Lionel Messi challenge against Aïssa Mandi during Argentina vs Algeria at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and Algeria’s shameful performance:
🗣️ “I know this won’t be a popular opinion, but for me, if that challenge is made by almost any other player in this tournament, we’re having a completely different conversation.
If that is a defender wearing a different shirt, a midfielder from a smaller nation, or simply a player without Lionel Messi’s name on the back, I believe there is a serious chance a red card is shown.
That is my honest view.
The contact was significant.
When you see a boot come up and catch an opponent like that, players have been sent off for similar incidents before.
That is why so many people are debating it.
What frustrates players is consistency.
We are always told the rules are the same for everyone.
But moments like this make people question whether that is really the case.
Messi is one of the greatest players in football history.
Nobody can deny that.
He does not need special treatment.
His football speaks for itself.
That is why controversies like this become so big.
Because people look at the incident and wonder if the decision would have been the same if another player had made the challenge.
Of course, the referee and VAR saw it differently.
They reviewed it and decided there was no red card.
That decision is final.
But do not be surprised that players, fans and pundits continue to argue about it.
Because if football wants credibility, then consistency must be the same whether your name is Lionel Messi or anybody else.
That is the debate people are having tonight.”

🚨📲 NEW: The Algerian defender, Assa Mandi, has taken to Instagram to complain about the refs' decision in the match against Argentina.
"If I’d fractured my ankle last night, the guy who did it would’ve walked away with no card. Refs need to do better. The whole world is watching."

🚨🎙️ Oliver Kahn on the Lionel Messi foul incident:
🗣️ “I was disappointed in seeing the officials didn’t give even just a yellow card for that challenge. Everyone was chanting ‘it’s a red card’. A yellow card wouldn’t have been justice, but at least it would’ve shown they saw something.”
🗣️ “What makes it worse is that we’ve seen softer challenges get punished before. So now people are asking, what exactly is a red card anymore?”
🗣️ “There will always be another similar challenge in football and it will interesting to see what the officials do when it’s another player making that tackle. That’s when consistency gets tested.”
🗣️ “There’s a reason why competitions spend millions on VAR. Not to sit there and watch controversial moments pass by without intervention.”
🗣️ “One decision changes everything. For the Algeria national football team, that moment could’ve changed the entire game.”
“Le tienen que ECHAR. Si cualquiera de los otros 21 jugadores pega esa patada Y NO SE LLAMAN MESSI lo echan.
Es demasiado obvio para mi. MESSI SIEMPRE TIENE ALGUNA AYUDITA".

🚨Toni Kroos on Lionel Messi Tackle on the Algerian Player:
“Looking at that challenge, it’s clear as day that should have been a straight red card for Lionel Messi. I’ve watched the replay multiple times, and the way he goes in with his studs showing, catching the Algerian player high on the leg while the ball is already gone, it’s a dangerous tackle. You can’t tell me that’s not worthy of a sending off in any other circumstance.
I understand that Messi is a special player, one of the greatest of all time, and referees sometimes give him the benefit of the doubt because of the kind of football he plays graceful, intelligent, and rarely malicious. But favoritism has its limits. Algeria was clearly robbed on this one. The referee bottled a big decision that could have changed the course of the game.
If it had been any other player not Messi doing exactly the same thing, it would have been a clear red card without hesitation. We’ve seen it happen countless times with lesser-known names who get punished harshly for similar lunges. This kind of inconsistency in officiating is what frustrates fans and players alike, especially in high-stakes international matches.
I feel for the Algerian team they were cheated out of a fair result today. Football should be about merit and the rules applying equally to everyone, regardless of superstar status. Messi is a legend, but legends don’t get a free pass to put opponents in danger like that.”
La carrera de Messi está resumida en:
- Hormonas (ilegales en cualquier deporte)
- El escándalo de Stamford Bridge
- Negreira
- 4 Balones de oro inmerecidos
- Copa América cada 2 años (hasta que la ganó)
- Blanqueamiento de prensa
- Infantino

Embarrassing moment involving Argentina, FIFA and Messi again 😳🇦🇷
19 successful games were played with no VAR controversy until FIFA’s favourite team played.
Last night saw one of the clearest red cards any football fan will witness, but the problem was the player involved was Messi.
There was a very quick review of the incident and nothing was said about it because they were scared Messi would miss the remaining two games and that would possibly cost them revenue. 👀
After the last rigged World Cup with many undeserved penalties awarded to Argentina, FIFA are trying to make another World Cup full of controversy again.
That challenge could have broken his ankle or caused a serious calf injury, but nothing was done.
Algeria robbed!!!
