However, there is a reason teams often have tons of unspent $ remaining.

I know there is some $ rollover rule & you need $ for rookies & potential in-season moves.

But isn’t biggest reason owners see it as lighting $ on fire?

1) Depth added in offseason. The $ mismatch on the Porter trade also allowed for Val, Hardaway and Bruce. Where would we be without those 3?

2) Best season start allows breathing room in standings
