We want the warhorse.
Jesus rides a donkey.
We want the eagle.
The Holy Spirit descends as a dove.
We want to take up swords.
Jesus takes up a cross.
We want the roaring lion.
God comes as a slaughtered lamb.
We keep trying to arm God.
God keeps trying to disarm us.
If you’re upset by a woman prophetically speaking truth to power, let me introduce you to Jesus’ mom:
“God has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. God has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.”
-Luke 1:52-53
If you talk about human beings like this and claim to be part of a movement that follows Jesus, you are actively taking Jesus’ name in vain.
Stop telling everyone we just have to accept this kind of vile, dehumanizing, and evil behavior as the only true “Christian option.”
Jesus said to “love your neighbor.”
Not control your neighbor.
Not mock your neighbor.
Not shame your neighbor.
Not dehumanize your neighbor.
Not demonize your neighbor.
Not defeat your neighbor.
Jesus said to “love your neighbor.”
Jesus was a threat to the stability of the empire.
A threat to the ability of the empire to rule without compassion, to oppress without consequences, to use religion as control, to kill the poor while honoring the wealthy.
Jesus is a threat to the stability of the empire.
