Yes, this is alarming, scary, and hard for people to understand. The main take home point for parents of school-aged children is that treatment is effective and works!

@DrHowardLiu Completely agree which is one of the reasons why school based mental health models are ideal to treat emerging symptoms at time of onset. We (and others) are also creating best practices for youth crisis centers. Not perfect but the practice community is certainly evolving
