Thelma Cazalet-Keir's parliamentary question in 1940, asking the prime minister whether he intended to ‘introduce legislation’ to enable the return of the marbles after the war ‘as some recognition of the Greeks’ magnificent stand for civilisation’.
Rare outbreak of common sense if the Parthenon marbles are removed from their London dungeon and set against the glorious blue sky of their homeland where they have always belonged. 🇬🇷 https://t.co/NC96czR46A

How exciting that @ComptonVerney has been shortlisted for the Art Fund Museum of the Year - I was so lucky to be able to curate Landscape and Imagination for them last year. It’s a great venue and I wish them luck!
Happy Earth Day 🌳
These paintings in our collection are by Asher B. Durand, an American landscape painter of the Hudson River School. Essentially self-taught, Durand often worked outdoors—en plein air—at locations like the Adirondacks, Catskills, and the White Mountains.
