The UK is drifting, unhappy, losing faith in previously respected institutions (like the police), buffeted by extremists (often allowed to run amok), dismayed by decline, angry at the inability of the political class to do anything about it, despairing that the Westminster politico/media bubble pursues an agenda, issues and priorities (look at the obsession with Lee Anderson) which are not most people’s — and had enough of being lectured to by a disconnected, de haut en bas chattering class. Yet we have a Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition incapable of speaking up for the moderate majority, who still have pride in their country and are desperate for strong leadership and guidance through the current morass — plus some hope/sign things will get better — all within the bounds of traditional British tolerance and fair play. This vacuum is dangerous.

Amid all the news from Russia (drones, Prigozhin) it's important to mention that Mikhail Gorbachev died one year ago today. It feels like his passing marked the end of a rare chapter in Russia’s history when Russia opened up to the world. Today it's taking a very different path.

There is no formal announcements from the UKR MOD, but.......
1. We have seen two videos/photos of UKR inits htiing the main Russian defense line. One was a mounted infantry assault that results in some BMPs getting detroyed, but infantry made it into the trench line. The second was a single BMP that was rigged to run remotely into the antitank ditch (presumably checking the area for mines).
2. The main take-away is that in neither case were the UKR vehicles under artillery fire. This is presumably because of successful attrition of Russian artillery by Ukrainians. This is a key precondition for assaulting those Russian positions and breaching any minefield present.
This news is also dated by 24 hours or more now. But it does validate the observations of some that the Russian lines have been thinned out by them moving units up to the "zero" line in efforts to stop Ukrainian advances or moving units to the east for their ill-fated attacks, e.g. Kreminna.
All of this is going according to Ukrainian plans. #UkraineVictory
