New metric on the website: SCI measures the self-creation responsibility a player carries weighed with the turnover cost they pay
Top 10 p5 players from 25/26 in SCI are below, as well as an article explaining some of the methodology that went into creating this metric
I think Alabama has perhaps the most cohesive roster fit in the country this year:
They were a +39.5 per 100 with Aden Holloway/Amari Allen/London Jemison last season.
They improved their rebounding personnel and Nate Oats' 3 great Bama D's were his 3 best rebounding teams.
Louisville guard Seth Trimble is now currently eligible after being added to a temporary restraining order in the Kentucky lawsuit, source confirms to @On3.
@KkinggJjamess Still workshopping a more concrete way (data availability/collection is a bit rough), but I have a baseline predictive model for euro->CBB that will be up soon, then I might add some qualitative adjustments by hand for players that are highly rated
For the record, I think UK will be fine. In my eyes, this moves them from the 10-15 range down into the 15-20 range, but will still be a good squad obviously
Upgraded the player scatterplot package on my site to enable the display of the full range of stats on the site, allowing for the creation of graphs like this:
SHOOTR vs Unassisted 3P Make Share amongst players with at least 5 3PA per game in the 25/26 season
3-point shooting from “known-quantities” (players who have played in D1) was one of Marquette’s biggest weaknesses from a metrics projection standpoint, so really like this add even if he plays a limited role
Really think this team will contend for the BE this year to be honest.
Marquette is bolstering its backcourt by adding fifth-year guard Colin Porter.
The 5-10 Porter is a proven shooter who started 135 games at Liberty. He's among several players seeking that fifth season of eligibility. #mubb

@FlyinStallion Usage rates certainly aren’t something you can just add together when players are transferring I agree, but I do think it’s worth considering how players will respond to the shift in role required by moving to a team with other higher-usage players
Tying in my work on self-creation, Kentucky now has three players who excel at self-creating and are at their best in a high-usage setting, which worries me
Could definitely be helped by two excellent players in Moreno and Milan who don't need the ball nearly as much though
@JonMoore192 Definitely not bad at all, Mitchell is a good player and I think UK will be a decent bit better with him on the roster
I just think their roster construction is unique and I am interested/excited to see how Pope manages roles
@harvcat1992 I think 12 is a relatively optimistic projection comparatively to where other predictive rankings will have them preseason, could be wrong though
BREAKING: Missouri transfer forward Mark Mitchell has committed to Kentucky, agent Brandon Mitchell of BAM Sports and Entertainment told @On3.
The 6-9 forward averaged 18.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists this past season, earning All-SEC Second Team honors.

BREAKING: The Tenth Circuit has GRANTED the NCAA’s stay request in the nationwide Colorado case, per @austinmasseySBI
Class of 2022 athletes seeking another year of eligibility no longer have sweeping federal protection
3P halfcourt load and 3P transition load are highly correlated (players who take a lot of unassisted threes in transition also take a lot in halfcourt offense)
It is interesting to examine, however, a couple of the players who exist off the trendline, highlighted below
Also new on the site is the ability to add/drop players from rosters and have changes reflected in preseason rankings.
My preseason model is still in flux a bit and I am far behind on updating transfers/5th year rulings, so I wanted to allow users to change things manually
This is the top 15 in the same metric, but this time expanded out to cover all conferences.
Shoutout to Kenyon Giles, one of my favorite players to watch in the country last season
3P transition load is the estimated number of unassisted three point attempts per 100 transition offensive possessions. This equates to roughly "Pull-up three load"
Below are the top 15 players in 3P transition load across power 5 conferences last season
