@ClutchPoints@ClipperNationCP@GetUpESPN This man essentially broke the Law and the NBPA made sure he didn’t get punished. Don’t ever utter the words “Teams aren’t loyal.”
Thank you. Ballmer and the front office aren’t innocent, but dragging this out hurts the most important part of sports: the fans. Believe it or not, the Clippers have fans. Sports should be a haven for anyone who loves the game. I understand the punishment, but fans hurt most.
Sure sounds like this about to go to court. But windy makes a sound point about LAC just accepting the punishment
likelihood that the punishment lessens eventually, still will have picks especially w/the kawhi deal & how the length of the investigation ended up helping.
Brian Windhorst calls Kawhi Leonard the “unmitigated winner” in the Clippers’ salary cap scandal:
"I would advise him not to use the words 'integrity' and 'respect' anymore... He collected tens of millions of dollars in endorsement deals and was fined $700K in restitution. It’s the greatest investment you could ever make."
@RyanLucas_LA@KeithSmithNBA They’d have leverage if the Clippers were desperate to contend, but they aren’t. Wanna offer a BS deal? Great. Have fun in the East with Boston, Cleveland, Detroit, Indiana and Philly. All better-constructed teams. That ain’t the Clippers’ problem.
@RyanLucas_LA@KeithSmithNBA How do they have leverage? The Clippers said themselves they aren’t contenders. Kawhi sitting changes nothing. Know who wants to contend? The Raptors. Good luck. They wanted Kawhi, which is why they traded for him. Though his contract is with the Clippers.
@RyanLucas_LA@KeithSmithNBA You’re talking like the Clippers are gonna say, “Yeah, we have no picks, so take Kawhi for free.” That’s a stupid take and just bad business. The Clippers have nothing to lose at this point. Sit Kawhi and start from scratch in 2027. It’s on the Raptors to decide if it’s worth it.
@RyanLucas_LA@KeithSmithNBA $30M in FINES is separate from Kawhi’s contract. Put this together: they just fined an owner worth $152B. I don’t like the prick, but that’s basically a speeding ticket to him. He has no issue with Kawhi sitting until 2027 when the team has money again.
@RyanLucas_LA@KeithSmithNBA Did the report say the Clippers have to give Kawhi $30 million on top of his $50 million? I’m sorry, I must’ve missed that part of the report. Can you please screenshot where it says that? Stop talking like the Clippers owe anyone anything besides the league.
@FeelLikeOBK@RyanLucas_LA@Yinoma2001 It’s not that he’s delusional. He’s just not smart enough to understand business and instead spews stupid takes on the internet. Saying it’s not a Raptors problem as if the Clippers owe the Raptors anything is stupefying. It’s actually prodigious that people like this troll exist
@RyanLucas_LA@KeithSmithNBA What other $50 million? You mean the current $50 million? So it’s $30 million plus an additional $50 million now? Reading comprehension issues? Him staying doesn’t affect them, which is why they were fine with him staying, according to Windy. Read a little bud it’s beneficial.
@RyanLucas_LA@KeithSmithNBA Perfect. Hang up. Enjoy the east. kawhi wants to sit out a season. Great doesn’t matter. Clippers got nothing to lose (literally) Kawhi gets a year older Raptors can decide if 37 year old Kawhi is worth 100 million next off season. The Raps can enjoy Boston, Cle and Philly 🤝
I keep seeing versions of this and it's not how things work. You ruin relationships and reputations this way. They entered into the initial agreement knowing there could be punishment. They held until they knew what that punishment was. Now, they know and will move forward.
Seems like the Lakers pretty clearly violated the first point on their with the Anthony Davis space jam situation but you know it’s only the Clippers right?
