Consider Jesus.

He saved us all.
Yet in his “mortal” life he had clear boundaries to the intensity of his service.

God above all.
12 special disciples chosen.
72 followers.
The individual in the masses needing his attention.
The crowds.

Do we serve as He served?

Oh how sweet our God who graciously teaches us that we are not, and never will be, enough. He alone is sufficient.

A lesson I am so prone to stray from but a God who always returns me to the fullness of gracious and true love.

Following Jesus does not mean you get to live the life you want. Following Jesus means living the life He wants. We get to realize, in the living of it, that His desire for us is immeasurably better and more fulfilling than our highest imaginings.

The tithe liberates our way of living from dependency on self and the works of our hands.
The tithe in no way alleviates the burden and responsibility we have to aid our fellow humans.
Feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, adopting the orphan etc are joys beyond the tithe.

Let generosity to the common man far outpace luxury for ourselves.

It’s love God with everything and love others as though they were you.

The limit of any believer is how we believe God.

Our potential is not defined by what we believe we can do, but how we believe what God reveals of Himself, what He can do, & what He will do.

The anthem of the believer is not “I will do” but “God will do;” & so we are with Him.

Fast the things that challenge your allegiance to God.

Fast the things that challenge your trust and dependency on God’s sufficiency and supremacy.

A fast should directly challenge the doubts, mistrusts, idols, and enticements we entertain in our lives.

That’s a “Daniel fast.”

The role of believers, in every setting, is to invite the people around them to experience Jesus; regardless of relationship.

This is primarily expressed in lives that imitate Jesus. This leads to words of invitation and a distinct lack of condemnation for those without belief.

If we believe that Jesus is the best way, we must let our lives be the primary body of evidence that gives substance to our faith; an evidence for all who seek to witness.

The best is not made better by belittling perceived competition.

The defense of best is always, “try it.”
