🚨 Never in my life did I imagine Russian communists would sound like freedom protesters. But in Moscow, around 60 people were detained after a Communist Party rally where they chanted “Down with the Tsar,” “Fair elections,” “Freedom for political prisoners,” and “Down with Roskomnadzor.”

🔥 That is remarkable for a party that has traditionally been very supportive of Putin. And “Down with Roskomnadzor” matters too: authorities keep shutting down mobile internet, supposedly for air-defense purposes, while Russian military sites and oil infrastructure continue to burn.

📵 Russians can see the contradiction. These shutdowns increasingly look less like protection of strategic sites and more like protection of Putin’s regime.

👑 “Down with the Tsar” is quite a slogan in Putin’s Russia. His system can arrest protesters and switch off the internet – but it cannot switch off the anger.
