Karl-Anthony Towns has been developing a step-back three-point move for quite some time. I wrote about its progression and how — if deployed with some frequency — it could turn him into an even more unstoppable offensive force.

I’ve worked with very few people as committed to diligence and self-improvement as Dane is. That, along with him being a super good dude, makes this really suck. But we’re all lucky that he’s not going to stop betting on himself.
Some news: The layoff monster got me
Two things:
- I'm a free agent
- I'm not going anywhere
The podcast continues. On today's show: @brittrobson and I discuss losing our jobs covering the Wolves (furlough for Britt)

For almost every prospect I've watched Synergy on, the opinion I gathered from the film matched what I had been reading.
That was not the case with Onyeka Okongwu and Isaac Okoro
Was fun to be able to break it all down w/ @Wdeberg14 on this week's pod:

@statcenter One-time re draft is a much better way of phrasing this, thanks. I could definitely see a few POBOs going early — if you don’t get a superstar, get someone who can find you one. But I’d be surprised if any team would choose a coach before taking a single player.
@ericinmadison Yeah, the logic isn’t very sound. Eliminating the FO aspect, though, I tend to agree on the 5th-6th round assessment for coaches. Maybe even 4th in the right situation, but hard to imagine one going sooner than that. It’s an interesting question to me, though
Some of this Last Dance stuff has me curious: If the NBA did a wholesale re-draft every year with players, head coaches & GM/POBOs all in the same pool, during which “round” would the best coaches be drafted? What about the best front office people?
Taking a break from "how much is Malik Beasley worth in free agency?" -- on today's pod, @cjohnsNBA and I go through Beasley's film
-- His offensive synergy w/ DLo
-- What he might bring out of KAT defensively
-- Then, yes, what Beasley's market might be

Bought a percolator (coffee), went online to find a tutorial and stumbled upon one of my new favorite YouTube videos. If anyone knows Java Rob IRL, let him know I hope he’s alright.
Time to start moving through this year's NBA Draft prospects on Synergy.
On this week's pod, @cjohnsNBA and I discuss what we saw in the film of Anthony Edwards and James Wiseman -- digging into how they fit the Timberwolves roster + system specifically.

Pie In the sky: Is Malik Beasley (becoming) an elite shooter?
Super arbitrary: the last 6 ppl (based on my research) to make 38%+ of 100+ 3PAs as an NCAA freshman, then 38%+ of their first 750 NBA 3PAs:
-Beasley
-Doug McDermott
-CJ McCollum
-Steph Curry
-Ryan Anderson
-JJ Redick
I wonder if KAT will be back by March 24th - the night of the 76ers/Wolves rematch. So much has happened this season that I almost forgot Embiid kinda sorta threatened Towns with blackmail on social media after their little fight on the floor
Unfortunately, the Timberwolves will start the second half with Karl-Anthony Towns sidelined (again).
-- On the noise surrounding the injury
-- Why focus is now on DLo
-- Does the system shift to fit Beasley + DLo?
-- Will this group commit to defense?

@BadmonJohnson@three2drew I get that, but it hasn’t been my take on it. They called Layman’s injury a toe sprain and labeled him day-to-day back when the Wolves were playing well in the fall.
It just strikes me as a pretty disingenuous, “keep our cards close to the chest” kind of thing.
So, an MRI was performed on KAT’s wrist, it was already decided/leaked that he’s likely to miss several games AFTER the all-star break, and we (the public) have no idea what that MRI revealed? Definitely a trend..
3 big objectives for Wolves after the break: 1. Get a handle on KAT’s injury, 2. Help Russell get settled in. 3. Look hard at the first for Beasley and Hernangomez https://t.co/ItxLUbMUqh
Looking at the State of the Timberwolves after Monday’s epic loss w/ @cjohnsNBA
— Why the Wolves are on pace to win 26 games
— The defense’s reliance on KAT
— KAT’s frustration
— A roster that doesn’t fit
— Adjustments at the deadline or this summer?
