Shad, I disagree. In any timeframe that matters, if you are a person who cares about Liberty and limited government and good government, Colorado is lost due to your political party which is becoming dominated by crazy and evil people. CD1 is the object lesson. This is not about comparing to Republicans and I am not here to defend them and I am not a Republican.

This is a one-party state now. Congratulations to you and Jared and all the other people from the blueprint and to the brain dead Californians who came here and brought their politics with them.

It is not Jeff's job, or anyone else's, to sacrifice peace, freedom, or even just a sense of feeling welcome, to "fight" about a political battle that has been lost. Sure, Republicans may have a resurgence in a decade or two, or maybe, like California, never.

And of course not everybody cares about politics as much as Jeff does and not everybody will allow it to impact how you feel about a place.

But even though Jeff is way to my right I share his overall view on this. I don't mean that I am leaving or even thinking about leaving anytime soon. And as long as I am here I will keep fighting and, frankly, trying to stop you from succeeding even though I like you personally.

But I am under no illusions that my side will win anything important. We are facing an unending tsunami of new taxes and new regulations and new impingements on freedom and common sense. And while I will fight against it for a while, I don't feel a moral compulsion to do so.

If anything, I think the moral thing to do would be to just sit back and watch your party get even more power and destroy the things that entrepreneurial and capable people have created, as you allow incompetent downwardly mobile angry young adult adults (primarily young white women) elect politicians who are not centerleft but rather who oppose everything that has made America great.

Yours is now fully the party of antisemitism, anti-capitalism, anti-police, anti-reason. Colorado deserves everything terrible that will happen to it when those people are in control.

I am confident that Phil Weiser, who will be our next governor, is well to the left of Jared Polis. I do not know whether he will do anything to restrain the factions in your party that are even to the left of him.

But I know that at least for the next little while, whatever is coming will not be stopped by Jeff or me or any other combination of people who oppose enormous government and socialism and antisemites.

I used to feel almost 100% confident that I would retire in Colorado whenever that is. I do not feel that way now. And if I could have a job that I loved as much as I love my current job in some other place that I would like to live, I would surely consider that.

Colorado is still wonderful, especially it's physical beauty and opportunity to do so many things outdoors and even the cultural scene is improving. But in terms of economics and the ability of someone who isn't a socialist simply to feel welcome here, your party has done much to destroy that and it's only going to get worse. Perhaps one day you will apologize, not to me but to your children when they have to leave Colorado because of what your party has done to it.

@HeidiTown I’ve driven it several times over the past 40 years… geez really that far back??? I don’t think it was designated an off highway scenic byway on the first go round. Lake City is a cool, quirky town. Watch out for the Texans on the road, they’re everywhere down there! :-)
