Yesterday’s CEO Roundtable brought together sector leaders for an insightful discussion led by Debbie Barnes, CEO of Lincolnshire County Council, on the evolving role of local authorities in education - with a particular focus on SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
Debbie shared a thoughtful and holistic two-pillared approach to how local authorities can better support the needs of SEND students. Her message was clear - the current SEND system is not working, reform is essential and must be systemic, and a new, inclusive approach is not only necessary but achievable.
The session sparked valuable discussion around the future of SEND provision, with inclusion placed firmly at the heart of the conversation. Thank you to the business leaders from BESA member companies who took part in this timely and important dialogue.
