If keeping the ports open is critical to the Canadian economy, maybe we should place the burden on the companies to keep operating rather than the workers.
We’ve been through this before. We’ll prevail again by showing up and speaking out against those in power who have sewed division and been silent while this crisis was allowed to fester. All the hate in the world won’t change the fact that we exist, always have, and always will.
@jessyroos 100% agree. I'm so happy my hematologist has kept our check-ins over the phone. I talk to him twice a year for 5 minutes each. It just doesn't make sense to do it in person.
@mipsytipsy 10 years ago, the reason was "Because that's what I thought you were supposed to do"
Today it's "I'd rather be a manager than have a manager"
Janis and any other LGBTQ+ person over 30, or anyone who has done a lit review on trans youth in schools could have told the UCP that bill 8 was a dumb idea and a death sentence for vulnerable teens. In fact, some of us did. But they did eagerly dance in a fountain to celebrate.
I remember when I started teaching in 2013 how shocked and appalled everyone was when high school classes crept over 40 students. It was on the news and there was public outcry. Nowadays it’s common practice and the UCP solution was to discontinue public reporting on class size.
I have no words for this awful outcome. Citizen research shows that the number one service Calgarians ask us to invest more in is affordable housing. I'm holding back tears at the failure of #yyccc to ignore best recommendations to make life more affordable for all Calgarians.
