But considering it’s July 4 weekend I humbly suggest “Young, Washington.” I was actually blown away. The movie is incredible. Like Braveheart for Americans. Jon Erwin crushed it. On this day, February 4, 1789, a group of electors gathered to pick the very first leader of the United States. They cast their ballots, and the result was historic.

This photo shows the moment he received the official letter at his farm, Mount Vernon, confirming he had won.

And he didn't just win, he swept it. He received all 69 electoral votes. To this day, he is the only president in history to be elected unanimously. Every single vote went to him.

Looking at this, you have to appreciate where we started. We were just a brand new idea trying to figure it out. To see us go from basically nothing to the powerhouse we are today is incredible. I’m proud to be an American. We really do live in the greatest country in the world, and it was built on huge moments just like this one.
