UPDATE: Further to the Notice issued by the Authority regarding inspection of various categories of motor vehicles, we assure the public as follows:

1. ⁠School transport operators shall not be penalized for non-compliance with Rule 13 (Reflectorised red stop mechanical signal arms) and Rule 14 (Telematic system) of the Traffic (School Transport) Rules, 2026.

2. Commercial service vehicle operators shall not be penalized for non-compliance with paragraph d (Telematic system) - Regulation 9 of the NTSA (Operations of Commercial Vehicles) Regulations, 2026.

3. During route checks, traffic officers shall not enforce the mandatory inspection requirement on private motor vehicle owners.

Just had lunch with a recruiter who's trying to poach me for a competitor.

They're offering $320K base plus equity. About $50K more than I'm making now.

I'm not taking it.

Not because the money isn't good. The money is great.

But I've spent six years building systems at this company. I know where all the bodies are buried. I know which executives to avoid and which ones to cultivate. I know exactly how little work I can do while maintaining my reputation.

At a new company, I'd have to start over. I'd have to prove myself again. I'd actually have to work hard for the first year.

That's not worth $50K.

Plus, I can now go to my boss and say "I got approached by a competitor offering significantly more. I'm not interested in leaving, but wanted you to be aware of what the market looks like."

I won't mention the exact number. Just that it's "significantly more."

This does two things:
- Makes me look loyal (I told you instead of just leaving)
- Sets up a conversation about my compensation

I'll probably get a $30-40K raise without changing jobs. And I get to keep my perfectly calibrated work-life balance.

we should treat jobs like contracts. Doesn't mean we have to be bad at it, do your best because that exp counts. Keep 6 months cash, keep interviewing skills warm, keep your relationships alive.
