Wastage of Vadret dal Corvatsch, Eastern Switzerland, over the last 5 decades.
This Friday is the first International Day of #Glaciers. Let's all work to preserve this beauty of nature!
DESOLATION... 😭
As Svalbard climatology is reshaped by hitting >20°C two days in a row (2 degrees more than previous record!) this is what ice caps of the archipelago look like yesterday
Endless bare ice!
Not a single accumulation zone left 🔥

White mountains for how much longer?
Swiss #glaciers have transited into the phase of net loss for the year 2024 this weekend. Every additional warm day leads to unsustainable loss of glacier ice. Still several summer weeks ahead, bad news despite the good winter! Just too hot 🥵
Wowww! Before and after footage of the Wyoming Highway 22 over Teton Pass which suffered a "catastrophic failure" overnight on Friday. It's the lifeline corridor between Jackson, Wyoming, and Victor, Idaho...
Hockey has lost one of its most iconic voices. Bob Cole was a wonderful man whose voice we will never forget. I’m so thankful he was on the call for my career.

Throwback to the former beauty of this now reshaped valley, which hosted most aesthetic Swiss glacier for me! 🗻❄️🪨

This video is fascinating. The driver of a car in #Taiwan gets warning of an #earthquake and takes appropriate action, stopping in a rockfall shelter. And what a good job they did, as rockfalls inundated the road.
Early warning systems save lives, so long as you have a plan.
Over the last few days we have been trying to determine the location of a potential tailings / mine waste dam failure that was posted onto social media. This is the video on Youtube. It is amazing: https://t.co/XLr6RYvI6R
December 2023 was extremely warm in Canada. All reference stations were above average, with most of the country at least 3 degrees above.
Warmest December on record for many, mostly in the Prairies and Nunavut. In Alert, NU, December was warmer than November. #wxtwitter
2023 was warmer than the 1991-2020 baseline everywhere in Canada. Warmest year in airport history in the much of the northwest and in Montréal. The growing urban heat island most likely contributed to the record in Montréal's case. #wxtwitter
