It’s deeply despairing to know that we live in a world where the lives of gentle, kind, innocent beings like Wang Wang are destroyed and brutalized like they mean nothing. How can such evil exist amongst us and remain unpunished? It hurts to think there are many more suffering like Wang Wang on a daily basis. Will it ever stop? Will light ever overpower darkness?

Did you know Wang Wang had a previous litter of puppies that were adopted? At one point two of her puppies lived in different homes, and Wang Wang would go from home to home to see her puppies, and walk back alone at night to the drain she called home. One day when no one was looking, she even brought one of her puppies back to the storm drain. She loved them that much. That’s more love and care than some humans have for their children. So don’t ever excuse your depraved behavior with “that’s just a dog. Why are you making such a big fuss?” (this is actually what the Jieyang villagers are saying). She’s NOT just a dog. She’s a living being - a mother, with feelings of love, pain, and fear just like any human being, just like you and I. I would very much like corporations to explain how sourcing from a region without basic animal protection is in line with your “ethical sourcing / animal welfare policies?” Muji, Hugo Boss, and IKEA have all responded by saying that the Jieyang Dog Abuse is not directly related to their supply chain. But how is it not? The Guangdong government just openly admitted to burning 500 mostly stolen dogs after volunteers spent 10 hours intercepting the illegal truck, and when questioned for proof said “we’ve been eating dogs for thousands of years” !? Everyone knows what happened to Wang Wang is not an isolated incident, animal cruelty is a widespread issue in China. So tell me again, how is it not related to your supply chain? Corporations have the ability to influence positive change, so why are you choosing not to?

Even after Wang Wang, the extreme cruelty hasn't stopped.
- A newborn Chihuahua in Shandong was reportedly skinned alive and left to die in agony.

- In Leizhou, an illegal truck carrying 500 dogs—most believed to be stolen pets—was intercepted. Instead of allowing families time to identify and reclaim their dogs, authorities chose to let them die from extreme heat and burned the rest.

- Just yesterday in Shantou, Guangdong, a cat was tied beneath a car and dragged to its death.

- Today a Chinese netizen posted his 2 month old puppy taped to the floor on his own pee as punishment for peeing at home, and is seen wearing a shock collar.

- An old footage of a Chinese director bragging that he blew up a retired military dog for a movie scene. That movie scene is now circulating online.

There are simply too many cases. Just the atrocities reported in the past few days are already impossible to keep up with. 

Wang Wang has become a symbol of every innocent life that has / is suffering unimaginable cruelty. So please, don’t give up. Every post, every share, can potentially save countless voiceless lives. 

This is a battle between the good and the evil. And more than anything, I hope we can live in a world where good eventually overpowers evil.

All Wang Wang ever wanted was love, and a home where she could keep her puppies safe. It is said that even before the horrific torture, Wang Wang was beaten often by the same demons, that’s why she hid in that tiny hole with her puppies. It truly pains me to think how terrified and helpless she must’ve felt when they cornered and started beating her. She was the gentlest soul, she never harmed or bothered anyone… 💔 And the absolute worst is knowing that behind the scenes there are so many more Wang Wang’s suffering the same extreme cruelty, because the perpetrators continue to go unpunished.
