Any conversation about human #aging and #longevity is based on speculation. The closest we can come to conclusions is from correlational evidence, along with extrapolation from rodent work. Even with these limitations, I'm always surprised when a longevity expert ("guru") outlines a strategy that fails to account for insulin. For all the fervor on #mTOR (and based on rodent data, it's inhibition is important for longevity), if you overlook insulin's powerful and sustained activation of mTOR, you're deliberately turning your back on what is likely the most important variable. This newly published (correlational) work in humans supports the well-established rodent work (and more basic models) that reveals an essential role for insulin in longevity. https://t.co/dVUSgSKuSD
