The kid lives the Sick Parent Life, which means he doesn't get everything he deserves. That's extra rough when he has his birthday, Hanukkah, and Christmas at the same time.
I know the world is a hellsite, but if you could look at his wishlist, it would mean the world to us.

Those of us who live down here are at the greatest risk for what comes next. You'd happily abandon us to cover up bigger problems. Exactly like you abandoned disabled people in the pandemic, right? Maybe it should be comforting that some things never change...but fuck you.
Imagine thinking that abandoning all the queers, Black people, Natives, and immigrants in the south and southwest would "solve" a problem. New Mexico aloneโmore than 50% of our population is non-white, and English isn't the 1st or 2nd most common language. What does this solve??
Not to mention that New Mexico is a blue state!
"Leave the problem behind" means leaving the people who need the most help behind. This is every bit as bad (even as a joke) as Republicans who want to deport every immigrant!
You're part of the problem if this is how you think.

I am blown away and so touched by what The Kid has received for the holidays and his birthday already. We don't deserve you, but we're so lucky to have you as part of our found family.

Spent most of yesterday in the hospital for my heart and lungs.
Spending most of today working.
But gonna spend this weekend writing, reading, decorating for the holidays with my family, and taking it easy.
I've been through the process (emotionally, logistically) of cutting off abusive, awful family.
If you're about to start heading down that road, 3 things you need to know:
1. Don't turn back. Even when it's hard.
2. You're doing the right thing.
3. This is worth it.
It's okay with America that we aren't seen as legal human beings.
It's okay with America that our children could be taken away from loving homes.
It's okay with America that we could be arrested and harmed for existing.
America made it clear that trans lives don't matter.
