@neiltyson Sir, you are one of my heroes! I have a question regarding your assertion that most large human endeavors only happen because of perceived existential threats, and this would be the likely impetus for a mars mission because inherently the return on investment for a human mars landing is low.
As an alumnus, I attend the Tech Day at MIT every year, and they have had several presentations over the years about nuclear fusion, usually from tech startups started by MIT faculty and alumni. And what struck me is that most of these were financially viable even though they were perpetually “10 years away from success,” due to the steady flow of new inventions and patents arising from the cutting edge work they performed. The output of these teams is often very valuable in completely different fields like Medical imaging, transportation, robotics, all kinds of stuff. An analogous example for the Apollo missions is Velcro (even though they didn’t invent it, they popularized it). Is it possible that Elon Musk is betting heavily on this factor? In other words, that the Mars initiative, no matter how long it ultimately takes or how close it comes to his stated definition of success, could result in a number of very profitable and useful inventions that might for example help solve climate change or increase crop yields right here on earth?

@ReginaKing Just a quick note to thank you for an AMAZING show. I have been telling everyone about Watchmen and hoping for another season. I still get emotional thinking about your performance in the last episode. Just wow. How can we petition for season two? thank you again!
@DamonLindeIof Just a plea by a huge fan not to cancel Watchmen. What an AMAZING show on so many levels. IMO this is a slow burn; audience will build over time as more realize how incredible it is (like the original Star Trek, others). Thank you very much!
@paul_boos Question about GLASScon mkV. Is the call for papers closed? how does one register to become a speaker? I am interested in 2020 and/or 2021. Lots of ideas: Kanban anti patterns, Scaling with Kanban flight levels, agile governance at scale at SSA, others..
