@caragsdale Again, I’m not saying don’t celebrate incredible fire and rescue. Not at all! But if it had been a woman your reaction wouldn’t have been “heroic feminism.” Right? It is just people - image-bearing creation - doing heroic things. Gender aside.
@caragsdale Again, man, I just feel like you’re not hearing me. I see your point but is heroic firefighter=heroic masculinity? I get your point, just saying this isn’t a good illustration. Anyway.
@caragsdale So, do you think firefighters are being told this message? Are female firefighters being discouraged from the profession for the same reason? Is firefighting a specifically male profession?
@caragsdale I guess I’m not seeing anyone critiquing toxic masc saying, “And then these male firefighters refusing to rescue people, sheesh, that’s just men being toxic.” Maybe I’m missing something.
@caragsdale Toxic fem/masc are both antichrist, but I fear I’m not being clear. Your orig caption would be better as “heroic firefighter.” Seems nitpicky, maybe, but unless a woman is completely incapable of that act, it has nothing to do with masculinity. Does that make sense?
@caragsdale Can’t go with you on the anti-Christ aspect, but I see your intention. Interesting though: praise a firefighter for being a firefighter is ultimately the point. I don’t see anything specifically gendered here necessarily. Does that make sense?
@caragsdale Unlikely? Maybe. Not impossible though. Just wondering if the story of a man raising a child in an emotionally available, nurturing, supportive way would be heroic femininity? Less likely for a man, but not impossible...?

Much of my work in mnistry has centered on the issue of leader burnout. There are so many factors involved, but the first issue to be dealt with is AWARENESS.
This @soulcare course is a helpful guide to understanding & avoiding ministry burnout
