I need white people to stop associating Black art with their own kind in an attempt to muddy its quality. You aren't special, or "one of the good ones," for doing shit like this. You are also white, and a guest in this realm too, so stop trying to dictate what Black art is.
@scalarknight these people are both valid, and both transgender, but one of them has an extra set of (medical) needs which calls for different sorts of political advocacy. collapsing ‘trans(gender)’ into ‘transsexual’ and ‘dysphoric’ undermines appreciating that difference.
@scalarknight its important to have the tools to make the distinction between people whose self-identification is motivated by a sense of fit (or something similar) and people whose self-identification is motivated by dysphoria and is bundled with a medical need for hrt.
@Undue_Risk non-transitioning trans people still deal with the transphobic delegitimization of their identity, which is rooted in the same essentialist attitude towards gender used to delegitimize transsexual transgender people’s identity.
lumping frustrated trans women into a group of men who have committed mass-murders for their ideology is ridiculously transmisogynistic and the term in its current iteration is used to misgender trans women with plausible deniability
@R4VEPUP but this is not true. people you know and love can be very racist. the idea that racists are all foaming-mouth virulent misanthropes who you can see from a mile away and never accidentally be friendly with is stupid.
maybe a hot take but i really don’t think we need terms to describe what sex or gender people thought we were at birth like 95% of the time its pointless and just used to misgender trans people
75% of trans women in new york state prisons have been raped by a correctional officer. 69% of trans women in california prisons have been sexually assaulted. here we have some ‘dark woke’ moron trying to all lives matter the systemic rape of trans women in prison. disgusting.
Epistemicide that obscures the reality of trans womanhood as a social phenomenon/relation. Detrans women aren't denied womanhood, not sent to mens prisons, not violently denied access to women's spaces and scant protections, they dont experience any transfeminine social relations
@nmutcracker@comfethan@moletusk nobody said that subtlety was good tout court. in this(!) case, subtlety makes things less bad, because it means you are not putting porn snapshots on a shirt.
@kumkwer misgendering just is transphobia. the perception of trans women as not-women, and thus as deceivers or otherwise engaging in pretense, is what leads to our oppression.
If you DON'T see how this would end w/the medical establishment even MORE seriously abusing & neglecting trans men & transmascs who are ALREADY widely viewed as "weak-minded females who are incapable of knowing ourselves & are being manipulated into transness," you're delusional.
