@KSPrior I did the same thing re: my (now ex) husband of 35 yrs// lay worship leader, small group leader, self-appointed arbiter and critic of sermons by our pastors (they loved that).

I also no longer assume.

I compare words and actions looking for alignment.

@shaungroves Very true. I live in a highly LDS populated area in the PNW. I’ve also found this distinction of language to be true in relation to professing Christians with high levels of narcissistic personality traits. Same language, different dictionary when it applies to them.
