Brittany Higgins has lost the defamation case, with a court ruling she defamed ex-senator Linda Reynolds via social media posts.
Brittany’s posts implied Reynolds:
Engaged in a campaign of harassment against Brittany;
Failed to support Brittan after she was raped by Bruce Lehrmann;
Engaged in questionable conduct during Lehrmann's trial; and
Wanted to silence victims of sexual assault.
Reynolds sued Brittany for ‘reputational hurt and distress’ she claims to have suffered because of the social media posts.
Brittany must pay her $315,000 in damages plus interest.
She also sued Brittany’s partner David Sharaz for separate posts he made. David did not contest the claim because the cost financially was too huge.
Two of three claims resulted in damages against Brittany.
