@drruthannharpur@TwinsTrust@catherineroyuk Who said they were educating or making decision on pertinent issues? Have you seen their material? I don’t know you from Adam but it seems that you’re structuring your argument based on personal bias. They can refer to themselves as their title without an onslaught. For ref:
@drruthannharpur@TwinsTrust@catherineroyuk And let’s not forget, regular visits from the MW and HV happen in the early days/weeks, moreso if there are concerns, which should be picked up - this is outside the role of a peer supporter so would be unfair to insinuate otherwise.
@drruthannharpur@TwinsTrust@catherineroyuk So these courses shouldn’t happen? Why are you assuming that twins+ will have jaundice (normal, btw) dehydration, hypoglycaemia and faltering growth? Why are you assuming parents wouldn’t seek professional input re concerns & that they won’t have regular check ins from HCPs?
@drruthannharpur@TwinsTrust@catherineroyuk Can’t see an issue with AN session, for parents to have some realistic idea of what to expect - and no, not all babies will have hypoglycaemia, faltering growth, dehydration or jaundice (the latter is common and normal, btw, provided they’re feeding well and no other concerns)
@drruthannharpur@TwinsTrust@catherineroyuk If peer support didn’t happen I probably would’ve given up BF by now, and with my older kids. Peer supporters do complete a course, have to pass it to gain that title. They aren’t there to give advice medically with complex issues, but would signpost.
@JamesTitcombe There is multi-professional collab & teamwork, however I think it’s autonomous because we don’t have ‘basic’ training/skills, it’s a specialised field & we can make our own decisions without involving e.g. obstetrics (where it is safe to do so, of course).
@Jenny_1884 I’ve never been offered a prescription for paracetamol, nor have I offered a prescription for something you can buy off the shelf while at work - I’ve been asked to though.
@Tommy_131220 Tell her not to quit, almost 5 years in & I haven’t. I love my job (perhaps not the politics) &there does need to be positive changes. Tell her to write down why she wants to be a MW.
On the days that are tough, read it. It’ll help her remember why she’s there: the women/families
@KEdge23 Have you ever read your posts back before posting them? Did no bills ever rise (actually, rise considerably) under Tories? Unemployment? Standard of living?
Hope they never get back in.
@shesbonky This is me right now, baby #4 after husbands vasectomy! Fellow 1:1000 🤣 would do the same if I had to have a c/s, and opt for sterilisation. Can’t believe they refused???
