@RichTweets I oversaw ops at the worlds longest patrolled freshwater beach (~15km) and there is no one right answer. It’s risky even for trained lifeguards who carry and know how to properly use lifesaving aids. It was the right choice for you but same action could be tragic for others.
@OksanaMasters With the fullest respect, I’d humbly offer an alternate approach - that we change our relationship with the concept of failure itself. Failure is beautiful. Failure is a wonderful opportunity. Failure is something to embrace and celebrate, not demonize. I ❤️ failure.
In 2017 I led BC Wildfire Service's debrief of their historic fire season. I was reminded of the massive impacts stress has on teams and leaders, both on and off the front line. Thank you @BCGovFireInfo for everything so far. Pace yourself and caretake your full team to the max!
@coachpparker@voyageursswim Thank you for all you’ve done Phil, for the swimmers, the team, the university, and for the sport as a whole. You have created a wonderful legacy that can never be undone.
Control the controllables means:
1. Focusing on your own performance.
2. Being mentally and physically prepared.
3. Playing in the now.
4. Owning the things you are responsible for.
5. Sticking to your (process) goals.
Terribly sad to hear that the Laurentian University swim program has been cut amidst a massive restructuring including over 60 program cuts and layoffs. While one of Canada’s iconic programs has been shelved, they can’t rip away the memories.

@ray_oak@WesternU Great to see leaders in the field praising the role of sport. So many things we can learn there. As a proud spouse of an active member, love your angles on things. ps - Didn’t realize we shared some UWO time together. Go stangs!
@RSmisko@OakBayPolice That’s a notoriously tempting spot for cyclists to blow the stop sign. Any rider that does that while I’m with them is usually the last time I ride with them.
