A fantastic party afternoon filled with laughter and fun - musical statues, pass the parcel and even a special visit from Father Christmas! 🎅🏻 The Northern Lights projector was an absolute hit and went down a storm. Thank you, Santa! @CarltonPS_SET
Today’s computing lesson focused on making predictions and then testing our algorithms to see whether we’d got them right. Wonderful collaboration all round! @CarltonPS_SET
This afternoon, we have been writing and inputing algorithms into our Bee-Bots. We learned how important it is to give precise, step-by-step instructions so that our robots can reach the exact locations on our maps. @CarltonPS_SET
A great start to our new computing unit on Robot Algorithms!
We explored how to give and follow precise instructions—such an essential skill, yet surprisingly tricky to master. @CarltonPS_SET
Year 2 took part in some amazing hot-seating as Robert Catesby and Guy Fawkes. There were some superb interviewers on show, and the answers were wonderfully detailed. Such fun and so much learning! #gunpowderplot#oracy🔥🎆🧨 @CarltonPS_SET
Flower Power - we had fabulous visit from Nicky and Leigh @DraxGroup this week. The children loved learning about seed dispersal and even planted their own beans in their own newspaper plant pots. #superscience@CarltonPS_SET
We enjoyed two exciting science experiments this week—the milk and pepper experiment and the Skittles experiment. The children watched in awe and wonder at the amazing reactions! @CarltonPS_SET
Year 2 have produced astounding final art pieces, demonstrating superb use of oil and chalk pastels. These will make beautiful Christmas cards! @CarltonPS_SET
This afternoon, Year 2 spent time carefully drawing cylinders and then transforming them into beautiful candles complete with dripping wax, a wick, and a glowing flame. It wasn’t an easy task, but they showed fantastic growth mindsets throughout! @CarltonPS_SET
Dancing Raisins (and Worms) tonight - our raisins danced beautifully, powered by the fizz of bicarbonate of soda and vinegar - the worms, however, weren’t quite as lively! Superb work from our young scientists! @CarltonPS_SET
Year 2 worked really hard this afternoon creating detailed pencil drawings of eyes. They carefully observed the different shapes they could see and used their understanding of tones to make their drawings look realistic. @CarltonPS_SET
Our Exciting Experiments club for Year 1/2 got off to a brilliant start tonight with Fizzy Colours! The children were fascinated as vibrant colours bubbled and fizzed before their eyes - a fun and hands-on way to spark their curiosity about science. @CarltonPS_SET
Year 2 enjoyed their first drawing lesson this afternoon! We explored tonal shading and how to create a realistic 3D effect. Controlling pencil pressure was a bit tricky, but everyone showed fantastic determination and a real growth mindset. @CarltonPS_SET
Year 2 explored the ‘Digital 5 a Day’ in computing today. We discussed the importance of balancing our activities to keep our bodies and minds healthy. The children took part in a range of stations, including Be Creative, Be Active, and Be Mindful. @CarltonPS_SET
An action-packed afternoon for Jurassic Coast class @BeyondThePhys event at Selby High School. Superb determination, resilience and collaboration! 🙌 ⚽️
