Museum of Classical Archaeology

We are one of the three major collections of plaster casts of Greek & Roman sculpture in the UK. And we have more #museumbums than anyone else.

🌡️We’re closing on Thursday.🥵

Due to frankly unreasonably high temperatures on Thursday we'll be closing the museum for the day. Sadly, this also means that Thursday's event, "Meet the Greeks" will also be cancelled.

We apologise for any inconvenience this causes.

🥵Stay cool on your visit🥶

Our glass roof provides wonderful light, but it can also make the Cast Gallery very warm when the temperature is high outdoors.

If you're planning a visit when it's hot out, make sure that you stay safe and cool on your visit by following these tips.

[Museum of Classical Archaeology @classarch]

Oh gosh, it's really hot, isn't it?

We'll be closing Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week - having a glass roof means lots of lovely natural light all year around, but it also means we heat up quickly!

Stay safe in this heat everyone...

Today in 1884 the Museum of Classical and General Archaeology opened on Little St Mary’s Lane (where it stayed until 1982), making this the Museum’s 142nd birthday.🎉

As always, many of our casts are in their birthday suits to celebrate...
