@criticalurban Maybe if they replaced the streetcars with rapid transit buses with their own lanes and the same frequency and reliability of service, you could compare them to streetcars. That’s not what occurred.
@TallRomanStatue *some good goals
MAGA will tell you they want this without thinking about it much and then mindlessly go along as Republicans block absolutely anything that would make it happen.
@TallRomanStatue You seriously need to educate yourself more if you’re going to run an account like this. You have some goals but MAGA is never ever going get you there.
@criticalurban Choices that are perfectly rational for an individual still don’t necessarily add up to a society we want to live in.
Sure we’d all like a mansion in the center of Manhattan with an empty road straight to it, but it’s physically impossible.
@criticalurban My mom says the same with box stores coming to our suburb 30 years ago. At first it was convenient and she was happy to shop at them, but then it took over the entire area and now she wishes they never came.
@EricaJSandberg That's not because of cars. There are successful car-free areas all over the world. The problems are bigger societal problems and also bad zoning.
@davidlois_uned@CarsRuinedCity Any city neighborhood to would do this in the US would become instantly popular. It’s mind boggling that our cities don’t get it.
