Scotland: "Players aren't good enough "🤣
The worst argument to appear in the hangover of this campaign & that we can't play football, it's coaching & style, 100%!
Scott McKenna - LCB
- Double winner in Croatia
- Voted in Team of the Year
All this in a country that we constantly use an example of a domestic league creating ball-playing technical footballers recognising him as one of the best...
Jack Hendry - RCB
- Defender of the Year in Belgium 2021
- Won Title with Club Brugge following that season 2022
Has all the attributes to be a very good level ball-playing defender and probably proved himself at this WC, one of the few.
Fullbacks:
- Hickey a £20m Premier League Right-Back
- Nathan Paterson a £10m Premier League Right-Back
- Andy Robertson a Prem, CL & Multiple trophy winning Premier League Left-Back
- Kieran Tierney, yes injuries have hampered him, showed in 2nd Half how good he is.
Midfielders:
- Lewis Ferguson was Serie A Midfielder of the Year 2024 & Won Coppa Italia
- McTominay was Player of the Year & a title-winner in 2025 with Napoli
- Ryan Christie has been exceptional under Iraola as a CDM for a top Bournemouth side but hasn't played that role under Steve Clarke
- John McGinn just captained Aston Villa to a European Trophy but again under clear instruction of Emery
Attackers:
- Lawrence Shankland scores goals, you just need to create a chance.
- Adams & Stewart similarly, you need to create chances
- Doak is hot & cold but has Elite-Pace & Fearlessness, feed him the ball in the Final Third to feet and allow him to create.
We need a "Style of Play" to show how good this Squad can be!
If a nobody from Europe can turn up in Motherwell and turn Stephen Odonnell and Paul Mcginn into prime ball players then im sure Steve Clarke should be able to get an attacking performance from European cup winners and top nations league players.
We have been let down again
@marknelsoncomic Have said this for years . Smaller nations are more successful in tournaments because more of their players are playing competitive football every week from a younger age. Even youth clubs now are littered with non scottish players
Scotland will qualify in 3rd, make history & Clarke will go down as Scotlands most successful manager.
Another mediocre campaign, which bizarrely is enough to qualify. With the same negative, cautious Clarke approach we’ve seen before.
While other nations with less resources, facilities & player pools, show up looking better coached, style & mentality.
Clarke reaps the rewards of having the best Scotland squad in years at his disposal & doing the bare minimum with it.
Scotlands World Cup will be remembered for everything but the football.
This was declared a terror attack right away, even though no one died
Southport was not declared a terror attack when 3 children were executed
See how it works
@EwenDCameron@RJMcL Steve Clarke does not trust his players to be as good as the opposition. That's the only reason for setting up so negatively and being unable to create chances. Scoring goals is the hardest part of football and he has proven he is unable to set a team up to create chances. HAITI
But this outlines my point mate. It’s negative. “What if we get hammered” “what about goal difference” “let’s nick a draw” “Morocco are a good side” F€$k that-what about be positive and let’s go toe to toe with them like the lads did in the qualifying group.
#scotlandthebrave
@EwenDCameron@PeterAdamSmith@FrankyGers That's a negative spin, they have less than X2 the population of us.
Sweden had more possession and created more chances than Netherlands. They are also on the same goal difference as us right now despite a 5-1 pumping.
@EwenDCameron@PeterAdamSmith@FrankyGers A always compare Scotland to other smaller nations like Norway and Sweden, even before they had haaland and Isak they teams have always played better football than us. Very rarely see them take as negative an approach as us against bigger teams. They know how to score goals
That match yesterday is exactly why Steve Clarke should leave! Has 10 players marking a space instead of a man, we were counter attacked by 4 players, we had 9 back but they still comfortably kept the ball! Our players deserve better than his tactics.
