@clemkansas Good point. WaPo’s analysis should probably exclude SocSec. Still, the SocSec Trust Fund mainly invests in & holds Treasury securities, which in effect is a loan to the Gen’l Fund for gen’l gov’t purposes. Those are debts owed by the U.S. & must be paid back to the Trust Fund.
