@RichDecibels I’ve been working with LLMs for the past 3 years using it mostly as an accessibility tool for my debilitating ADHD :/
And it’s been such a relief not getting pulled into these silly pro and contra debates this time around!!!
@RichDecibels If you want to avoid being a victim of hostile PR and get some practical advice on how to best engage with immature/developing media technologies more creatively- DM me and I’ll text you when it’s ready
@andy_matuschak Extremely satisfying, definitely scratches an itch. And yes I’m so so happy I escaped this liminal filing cabinet of infinite unlinked chats that hold my interactions hostage in some inane webinterface. That still being a thing is the clearest signal of your framing being correct
@andy_matuschak I watched the talk and deeply resonated with especially the latter parts. As a transdiscipliary media artists I’ve been always “coding” my complex installations using max/msp and jitter which allowed me to work more visually and copy paste things around on an infinite canvas
@andy_matuschak The modularity was always much more appealing. Now I’ve started working with claude code and Pi and I still haven’t written a single line of code - but I’ve grown highly complex semantic ecosystems of nested and self similar wikis able to support me getting my ideas out there
@gptbrooke@thrialectics Living in Buenos Aires my home was next to a park and crossing it at night my mind turned the shadowy figures into all kind of scary scenarios. I challenged myself similarly to walk straight at the person I was most afraid of - always turned out to be some granny chillin or such
@RichDecibels I mostly switched because of claude code, allows me to have all my files on my computer instead of buried in the dephts of some chat interface + I can much more easily switch to a different provider or even use local LLMs
Was Claude trained exclusively on your tweets or why does it default to this self-deprecating humour whenever i try to generate something genuine @RichDecibels? frfr just started using it a week ago and somebody explain me please!
@RichDecibels Ever happened to you? I get it if it's slop(py) i mean i have eyes that stuff is everywhere. But self-deprecating humour as a default is so oddly specific it must be emulating something cultural!
@RichDecibels I do and it apologises but then it does it again. I don't use memory but it was just surprising
Is it that common? It's a choice that's for sure
@wholebodyprayer Yes I was trying to be slightly sarcastic :3
Anyway my hunch is we're somewhere very very early in the cycle
plus all the grifters from crypto pouring in isn't gonna help make the awakening faster
Currently mostly noticing the pro/anti AI camps forming
@wholebodyprayer The bigger picture though is that media literacy is gonna increase in the long term. I mean if you think about the inception of twitter, that was quite a mess-but in the end it turned out great, no?
@wholebodyprayer So jeah I'm sorry to say but it's gonna get way worse before it gets better. Just wait until they realise they can actually get the LLM to write decent prose
