@JamesGrahamAuth@ProfBrianCox Look, I'm about as far from @elonmusk as you can get politically, but to say he's only accidentally involved in so many successful ventures is just dumb. You can celebrate achievements whilst disagreeing with parts of his worldview.
Florida is recovering from one hurricane while another is on the way.
-The Republican Governor is refusing to talk with the President to coordinate hurricane relief
-All Florida Republicans in Congress voted against supplemental disaster relief money for FEMA
-82 House Republicans, including 11 from Florida, voted to shut down the government, knowing a powerful hurricane was on its way
-The Republican-controlled House took a vacation for the month of August instead of passing a budget on time, which means no new FEMA budget
-The Republican Speaker of the House is refusing to reconvene Congress from their second month-long vacation to pass emergency supplemental funds for FEMA
-The Republican presidential nominee continually lies about the federal disaster response instead of making sure his voters have the correct information to receive help
-The Republican party wants to eliminate FEMA and NOAA (the agency that monitors, tracks, and predicts the path of hurricanes)
-The Republican Party refuses to acknowledge climate change while watching insurance companies leave Florida because increasingly stronger storms are making insurance claims too expensive to operate
Florida, why do you keep voting for the party that not only does nothing for you but actively works against your best interests?
@daveoneillsf Not defending him is fine, but calling him a moron based on pretty sketchy or no evidence seems unnecessarily harsh. Have a look into the details if you have chance - refer you to the local news, and I'm still interested if there's more factors in not aware of.
@daveoneillsf @QueenCityNews It's from a news organization that seems reasonable in their coverage - but yes, you can make your own interpretation. I was genuinely asking if you had more facts to the story than I did. So far you haven't provided any - and that's fine.
@daveoneillsf What "issue" resulted, other than him rescuing someone? If the FAA feel there is a problem with busy airspace, they have ways of dealing with that. Like putting in a TFR. Are you a pilot? There's a lot of knowledge that comes with the territory.
@daveoneillsf Yes. You don't need a flight plan if you're flying VFR, and remain clear of any restricted airspace. From the news reports I've seen, it appears he even registered with the command that the local airport to assist. Genuinely curious if there's another side to this story.
@daveoneillsf @QueenCityNews had the best reporting I've seen on this so far, but I'm not sure again if they're missing something key. The Assistant Fire Chief and Town Manager both come over as incompetent beurocrats though, so I may be biased against them by default!

Jill and I are mourning the deaths of those whose lives were cut short due to more senseless gun violence and thinking of all of the survivors whose lives are forever changed in Winder, Georgia.
Students across the country are learning how to duck and cover instead of how to read and write. We cannot continue to accept this as normal.
