‘KAMING MAGSASAKA, KAMI ANG NAGPAPAKAIN SA SAMBAYANANG PILIPINO. PAANO KUNG LAHAT AY TITIGIL?’
WATCH: Ernesto Joson, a farmer for 40 years, shares the plight of farmers amid rising production costs while palay prices remain low.
He says he and fellow farmers in Pulilan, Bulacan have yet to receive the ₱5,000 fuel subsidy from the government, forcing him to borrow just to make ends meet.
While other farmers are considering stopping operations because of mounting losses, Joson says he opts otherwise.
“Mahirap mapagod. Mahirap huminto. ‘Pag hinto mo, wala na. Hindi ka na kikita,” he says.
“Kaming magsasaka, kami ang nagpapakain sa sambayanang Pilipino. Paano kung wala na kaming — kung lahat ay titigil? Sino na po magpapakain sa mga tao,” he adds. | @eimorpsantos

IRAN GUARANTEES SAFE PASSAGE FOR PH-BOUND SHIPMENTS, SEAFARERS
BREAKING: The Iranian government has assured the Philippines of safe passage for Philippine-flagged vessels, energy shipments, and Filipino seafarers through the Strait of Hormuz.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro says the assurance was conveyed by Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi during a phone call, where both sides discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Iran committed to “safe, unhindered, and expeditious passage” through the Strait of Hormuz.
"This positive development is vital for the Philippines, as it will not only ensure the safety of Filipino seafarers operating in the area but will also help ensure energy security for the country," the DFA said. | @TristanNodalo
