SPRING BALL RECAP - SALEM HILLS

I first want to thank coach Jeff Higginson for trusting me to help their players get seen and allowing me to come by for practice. I have a ton of respect for the coaches in our communities that maximize opportunities for their student athletes.

HERE IS WHAT I SAW:

Salem is a great program and they do a fantastic job of developing the local talent. It’s not a situation where they get a lot of transfers, but the way they play and build kids is respectable to say the least. They often punch above their weight but this year they’ve got a legitimate shot to compete for a title. I get a sense of family/ brotherhood in that program which might be rare in today’s climate. I attended a game at Salem a year ago and I can confirm that the community is fully invested.

As I eluded to earlier, this might be the most talent that Salem Hills has had. They truly do have one of the best duo’s in the state at WR with Peyton Higginson and Gordon Wilson, and they’ve also got an under the radar athlete in Joe Hughes that can flat out go. The key piece in my opinion though is QB Cash Hollingshead - this was a big acquisition to the roster and will unlock a level of play for the entire offense.

Salem should be in the running for a championship. I would be surprised if they aren’t. Obviously a lot of work needs to take place between now and week 1, but Skyhawk fans should be excited. I appreciate the time fellas!

WHO STOOD OUT?

Peyton Higginson, DB/ WR - 2027

Peyton is the real deal. It was easy to see why college coaches are flying out to tap in with him from the BIG 10 and other conferences. He is a long, fluid athlete with deceptive speed and great ball skills and catch radius. He was working offense at this session and his hands were like velcro. He is one of the few skill players that have P4 potential which is saying something. I expect him to have an incredible season on both sides of the ball.

Jagger Archuleta, OL - 2027

Jagger was impressive from a physical standpoint. He’s built and athletic for an OL/ DL at 6’2 - 245. He moves great and runs well which is a big emphasis for college recruiters right now. I am very eager to see him compete at the UtahBallers Trench Warfare camp where he will be tested against the best in Utah. Bright future and big season ahead for Jagger.

Gordon Wilson, WR/ DB - 2027

Gordon is another big, athletic prospect on the outside for Salem. He’s similar to Peyton in regard to his frame and skillset, and posses a knack for making BIG time catches. He runs detailed routes, also has great hands. You will see him making an impact both ways and playing multiple positions at a high level. This is a guy that has D1 offers, and should have many opportunities at the next level at conclusion of his senior year.

Cash Hollingshead, QB - 2027

Cash is going to turn heads this year. He was very sharp, in command, and confident during practice. I get he was severely underrated last year and this move is a fresh start. He is a top 5 passer in the class and will have an opportunity to demonstrate that. This team will be explosive and QB1 is a big reason. Watch for him to pick up some D1 offers soon.
