With so little time until #MarcellusWilliams is set to be executed tomorrow, Sept. 24th at 6 p.m., our best tool is our voice. We must make as much noise as possible in these final hours, as public pressure can make all the difference in the moments leading up to an execution.
Please, email, tweet or call Gov. Parson (@GovParsonMO) RIGHT NOW at 417-373-3400 and URGE him to step in and prevent Marcellus’ execution. https://t.co/2wq41v09Hj
In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth, we are highlighting significant African American environmentalists and biologists throughout Feb.
Evan B. Forde is an oceanographer and marine geologist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory in Miami, FL. He was the first African American scientist to do research dives aboard a submersible. These submersible dive expeditions focused on mapping the Atlantic sea floor.
Forde is also an educator and science communicator! He has created educational content from graduate level courses all the way to middle school oceanography curriculums. He’s appeared in multiple children’s magazines, student career days, and museum exhibits. Additionally, Forde has started programs to combat community food scarcity and to support NOAA’s Equal Opportunity Employment initiatives. Forde has received several NOAA awards for his research, science communication, and service.
We hope you take time today to learn more about Evan B. Forde and other Black oceanographers!
The White House cannot have it both ways: calling on the Israeli government to uphold international law while bypassing Congress to send weapons that are leading to violations of international law.
How many innocent people must die before @POTUS will demand a ceasefire?
Can't quite believe I'm writing this: Today, 150 African workers behind ChatGPT, TikTok and Facebook voted to unionize at a landmark meeting in Nairobi.
These AI workers are invisible, underpaid, and the backbone of the tech in all our pockets:

Had fun in @CUSDK8 today exploring the #ScienceandEngineeringPractices.
Used @calacademy's #NGSS lesson where Ts brainstorm all the VERBS scientists do.
Sorted into the different practices to notice trends. Which do we teach a lot? Which do we forget?

"There is a prejudice that if you are a really good researcher then that’s all you do, and anything else is a waste of time. But whatever it does to my career, it has been good in many ways [...] because I have reached people who wouldn’t know about physics otherwise.”
