⌛️ There is no plan ⌛️
We’re not going to Mars, Elon Musk isn’t gonna save us, we’re failing all climate targets, there is no big tech fix coming from MIT, nobody is stopping the collapse of nature.
It just isn’t happening. That’s why we need XR.
What's different with COP26 is the politicians themselves talked it up. They talked up their plans, and admitted it was now or never. So the fact they never delivered on what they talked up is very significant.
The only good thing to come out of COP26 is that at least we now know with absolute certainty that our current leadership/system is utterly incapable of meaningfully addressing the climate and ecological emergency.
XR's tactics may not be perfect - there is no such thing as perfect tactics - but at least they're doing something. It's infinitely better than doing nothing, which is what most are still doing.
In 100 years, very few people will remember or care about how we handled many of the political issues we think are important today.
Everyone on Earth will care about how we handled the planetary emergency.
@xr_cambridge >30 years of relentless dereliction of duty. Here's the harrowing IPCC summary 🧵 that those in power should actually read:
