This is the most important decade for solving climate. Elected officials should be judged by the amount of fossil fuels retired and clean energy deployed during their time in office. It’s not enough to build good stuff we can’t afford ANYMORE dirty energy.

@4KatieS@GovernorVA The Democrats passed the law joining Advanced Clean Cars. There are two options for states: follow EPA rules or follow the California rules. Other states don't have the ability to set their own rules. The legislature did this not Governor Northam.
Pretty bold move by @GovernorVA to repeal clean cars in Virginia. The legislature adopted clean cars to help reduce air pollution and the problems it causes, like asthma. Now, Youngkin is saying "the hell with coequal branches of government. I'll bring dirty air to all Virginia!"
@RTDSchapiro @JasonMiyaresVA@GovernorVA Virginians have a right under the state constitution to clean air: Article XI section 1. "it shall be the Commonwealth's policy to protect its atmosphere, lands, and waters from pollution..."
@GovernorVA fails government 101 time and again.
@GovernorVA 4) It's also bad for the VA state budget. If people are buying their cars from other states they're paying sales taxes in those states not in Virginia.
Youngkin may have scored political points with his base today but, he's harmed VA for years to come.
@GovernorVA 3 cont) - additionally, EVs are better to drive. more comfortable, sportier, quieter, etc. The more that Virginians are exposed to EVs the more they'll want them. Guess where they'll go to get them? Maryland and other neighboring states.
Utilities doing the two biggest dynamic line rating (DLR) projects in the U.S. explain how valuable the tech can be to find and use hidden clean power capacity on power grids—and why it's hard to scale up and coordinate its use to achieve those benefits:

This feels too little too late, no? The legislature and governor had nearly seven weeks before the expiration of the current budget and we've gone later in recent years before passage.
These legislators are right. Virginia loses by leaving RGGI. But, they could have done more.
NEW: @vademocrats, lead by @C_Herring, hitting @GlennYoungkin for trying to take #valeg out of #RGGI.
“It was only to avoid a shutdown that we voted for a budget w/o RGGI language. GY’s actions will make Va. lose millions for housing and climate resiliency”
