This week we launched Clean Waterways at the Beira Lake. In partnership with @HSBC and @CleanOceanForc1.

After a successful trial over the last few months, we have got HSBC’s commitment to support cleaning operations on the Beira Lake for the next 3 years. This is the first such commitment for HSBC outside of Hong Kong for their Clean Waterways programme.

Through the HSBC Eco Wiper, we can clean up to 3000kg of solid waste dumped into the Beira everyday.

This is the first step in our extensive programme to restore the Beira.

Last week, we started the first trials of electric waste collecting boats on the Beira Lake. These fully electric, solar powered boats can collect up to 3000kgs of floating solid waste every day. We will soon be launching up to 4 boats on the Beira Lake. This is one of many projects we will soon be launching to permanently restore and revive the lake.

This initiative is an outcome of @CleanOceanForc1’s membership in the Western Province’s Task Force on Restoring the Beira Lake. I am grateful for their hard work to create such innovative products for a good cause.
