One of my questions at the recent RFI briefing. I was questioning the premise of an RFI process in a time of crisis. The response is worth repeating. “It sounds like a good idea, but we are not mandated to introduce an emergency FIT, and will therefore stick to our RFI mandate.”

Here is an animation of how South Africa can transition from coal to 96% renewable energy in ten years. The best bit is that the replacement renewable fleet will cost R100b per year less to finance, operate and maintain than a brand new coal replacement fleet. #no_new_coal
